Napoli have reportedly offered €12m for Benfica full-back Nuno Tavares, but Chelsea defender Emerson Palmieri remains the priority.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports the Partenopei have moved for the 21-year-old, who played 14 times in Primeira Liga 2020-21.

The youngster was promoted to the first team in July 2019 and has since played 41 competitive games for Benfica, including five appearances in the Europa League.

Napoli have, according to the newspaper, presented an offer of €12m for Tavares, but the Portuguese left-back remains a Plan B should the Partenopei not get Emerson.

Chelsea reportedly ask for between €12m and €15m for the Italy international, but Luciano Spalletti is pushing for a move.

Napoli initially want a loan deal, but the player’s contract in London expires next summer and the Blues are eager to cash in on the Brazilian-born Italian.

Tavares has emerged as the alternative, but it’s not certain that Benfica are willing to sell the starlet.
