Walter Zenga has been installed as the new head coach at the Sardegna Arena, but the season was interrupted before he had the chance lead them from the dugout.

Italy are currently in a lockdown and the players have to train at home, and President Tommaso Giulini has time to start thinking about next season in Sardinia.

The most important target, according to Corriere dello Sport, is to bring the former Belgium international on a permanent deal.

The newspaper claims Inter will ask for €20m, a cost that the Rossoblu might afford, but the biggest obstacle could be the reported €4m-a-year contract with the Nerazzurri.

Nainggolan has contributed five goals and five assists in his 21 Serie A matches for Cagliari, the club he left for Roma, initially on loan in January 2014.

The Belgian midfielder spent four and a half seasons at the Olimpico before moving to the Nerazzurri in July 2018.
