“I think 60 minutes down to 10 men cost us a lot of energy, but we fought hard and it was only natural to be under pressure in the second half,” Nainggolan told Mediaset Premium.

“We regret not scoring more goals in the first half, when we were dominating, but we’ve got the second leg at home and hope it goes well.

“Now we must improve physically, as we cannot be at 100 per cent at this point of the season. We got a positive result and it’s up to us now to take the qualification home.

“Now we focus on Sunday, as we need to get a good start in Serie A as well. We are a team who must try to win every match and there are a lot of difficult fixtures.”
