Radja Nainggolan acknowledged Roma “have to win so we can fight it out to the end” with Napoli for second place.

“We have to win so we are up there just two points behind them and can fight it out to the end,” the midfielder told Sky Sport Italia.

“We did well the first time out and today must all work together to put in a great team performance. We need as few errors as possible, as Napoli are strong.

“In order to finish second, we need to do better than them. We must be aware that we can do this, as if we don’t believe then it becomes difficult to go forward.

“With a victory today, we’d open the door to an even better position and target than we currently have.”

While the top two go directly into the Champions League, the third side has to go through a preliminary round.

Francesco Totti is on the bench, but has scored remarkably three goals in his last two games – playing just 16 minutes of football.

“Totti’s quality has never been put into doubt. Hopefully if called upon today he’ll have the same hunger and be just as effective.

“He is proving on the field that he is still important. We need him as a team, but the issues outside of the locker room will hopefully be sorted out as soon as possible.”

Gonzalo Higuain has returned from a three-match ban, having scored 30 goals in 31 Serie A games.

“We managed to keep him quiet last time and will do so again today. The important thing is to work as a team to limit the opposition.”
