Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan could join Guangzhou Evergrande on loan as they look to avoid China’s ‘luxury tax’.

Nainggolan saw a €50m transfer to Guangzhou fall through earlier in the week, but Calciomercato.com claims Roma President James Pallotta has managed to revive negotiations.

The website explains the Giallorossi consider the 29-year-old “a great player but not irreplaceable” and are consequently prepared to loan him to the Chinese champions for €6-8m.

He would then join Guangzhou permanently in a deal worth “more than €50m”, although CM notes it would be structured in instalments.

Nonetheless, there is optimism that the transfer would satisfy Financial Fair Play on Roma’s part, while Fabio Cannavaro’s side would avoid having to fork out an extra €20m in taxes.
