Fernando Muslera says it’ll be a “beautiful feeling” to face Lazio with new side Galatasaray.

The Uruguayan goalkeeper spent four seasons with the Biancocelesti, and will renew acquaintances in the Europa League tomorrow.

“We arrived yesterday and I had the pleasure of seeing a lot of friends,” Muslera said in the pre-match Press conference.

“In the five years I spent there, more than as a footballer I grew as a person. It will be a beautiful feeling for me to return to the Olimpico, as well as seeing the Vatican and the Coliseum.

“I always come back here when I have free time, there are people I still talk to and I miss them. Rome is a very beautiful city, I’m very emotional.

“Tomorrow will be a very difficult game, we’ll play to get to the next round, qualification is still open.

“We have to try and score goals and not just think about defending. We’re prepared, we’ve come to Rome to achieve something.”

Muslera was then asked about his departure from Lazio in 2011.

“There were many meetings with the President [Claudio Lotito] and [sporting director Igli] Tare but in the end we couldn’t reach an agreement.

“Then Galatasaray came in and convinced me and there was agreement all round. It was a good choice.

“Of course, I’ve followed Lazio from Turkey when I can. A lot of my former teammates have left, but Lazio are a team which is always talked about and which always tries to achieve the maximum.

“Lazio are always a great team, I wish them well.”
