Atalanta striker Luis Muriel mocked the referee after the controversial ending to their 2-1 defeat to Napoli. ‘When you book dinner for 20.00…’

La Dea had taken the lead through an Ademola Lookman penalty, before Victor Osimhen and Eljif Elmas turned it around.

The hosts were pouring forward in search of an equaliser and the referee gave four minutes of stoppages.

However, despite Napoli making a double substitution during the injury time, the official did not add any more to the four minutes.

This sparked a furious reaction from the squad and fans at the Gewiss Arena, but also from injured striker Muriel.

He mocked Maurizio Mariani on Instagram Stories by writing a cheeky message.

‘When you need to referee a match at 18.00, but book dinner for 20.00, so you are in a rush to get there…’

The Colombia international later cancelled the image from his Instagram.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Muriel was told by Atalanta chiefs to take the story down, as they did not wish to openly insult referees.
