Jose Mourinho is sad that former side Inter will not be joining his Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-final and semi-final draw on Friday.

Real progressed into the last eight of the UEFA competition on Wednesday night with a 4-1 win on the night over CSKA Moscow to confirm a 5-2 aggregate success.

They will be in the hat for Friday’s draw, but alongside Marseille, after the French side eliminated Claudio Ranieri’s Inter on away goals on Wednesday.

After Wednesday’s victory at the Bernabeu former Nerazzurri Coach Mourinho cast an eye over his former Italian side.

“I’m extremely sad for Inter. On Wednesday we were all supporting Inter here. Not just me, but my Real players, who do not know the Inter team, but have a great feeling towards them as the Nerazzurri defeated Barcelona in the semi-finals [two years ago].

“We were sad, it’s been a difficult season for Inter. Unfortunately in football you win and lose, but I’m sure we will return next year to win.”

Mourinho was then asked if he had any recommendations for President Massimo Moratti on what to change come the summer.

“I cannot give advice to Moratti, I’m a fan. The President knows what to do, Ranieri is an experienced Coach and the players are of high quality.

“Changing two-three players is normal, but the strength lies in the Inter team and its President, whilst the fans provide a unique atmosphere.”
