Jose Mourinho reveals why he called up the entire Roma squad against Monza, despite the fact ‘seven or eight of them cannot play.’

It kicks off at the U-Power Stadium at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT).

Despite numerous injuries, Mourinho has called up practically the entire Giallorossi team to sit on the bench.

“We are together, always, from the first day. It is a united, strong locker room atmosphere,” Mourinho told DAZN.

“There have been difficult moments, we are always together. This obviously is a difficult moment for all the problems we are dealing with, but the players want to stay together.”

Nemanja Matic is suspended and Marash Kumbulla hasn’t made the trip, as he needs surgery for a knee ligament injury that has already ended his season.

“It is clearly a bench with seven or eight players who cannot actually play, there’s nothing to hide there, but we are all together. Only Nemanja can’t because he is suspended and Kumbulla because travelling would not be intelligent.”

Paulo Dybala and Gini Wijnaldum were believed to have some hope of featuring, but Mourinho cut that rumour down in no uncertain terms.

“Dybala and Wijnaldum do not have a single minute in their legs. They cannot play.”
