Leandro Paredes was overjoyed to score his first goal for Juventus and was honest when asked about his future at the club, admitting he ‘likes being here’.

The 28-year-old Argentinian midfielder joined the Bianconeri last summer from Paris Saint-Germain on a loan deal with a conditional obligation to buy clause attached, worth around €25m plus add-ons.

Paredes has struggled to show much of note during his time with Juventus but was the hero in their 2-1 win over Lecce, scoring a free-kick after 15 minutes to put his side 1-0 up.

Speaking to DAZN after the match, Paredes first commented on how it felt to score his debut goal for Juventus.

“I haven’t scored for a long time. I’m happy, but I’m even happier for the win. You suffer in all competitions, you just have to work and know that all competitions will be like this.”

He explained why he celebrated with Paul Pogba after scoring his free-kick.

“Because before matches I always take free-kicks, today I told him I had a good feeling and he agreed. That’s why I hugged him after the goal.”

The Argentinian midfielder was asked if he’d smoothed things over with coach Massimiliano Allegri after their recent clash in training.

“These are things that happen in every family. Now it’s all cleared up, we’re moving forward together.”

Finally, Paredes spoke about his future with Juventus and if he’d like to stay with the club.

“I live my life and my career day by day. I like being here, I’m happy, I hope I can stay.”
