According to Il Corriere dello Sport, José Mourinho is in a hurry to know Roma‘s plans regarding his contract extension and the Special One could have met owner Dan Friedkin in Portugal yesterday.

Mourinho is expected to remain in the capital until the end of his contract in 2024, but according to Il Corriere dello Sport, he is anxious to know the club’s long-term plans regarding his future.

Mourinho is currently on holiday in Portugal and according to Il Corriere dello Sport, Roma owner Friedking also arrived in the country with his private jet on Thursday.

Given that Mourinho and Friedkin were only 55km away, the Rome-based paper suggests they could have met to discuss the club’s next steps.

Roma directors are currently busy in the transfer market, trying to cash in €30m by the end of the month to comply with FFP regulations.

The report claims that Roma are struggling financially, so they are making their assessment before offering a new long-term deal to Mourinho. On the other hand, the coach wants guarantees on a long-term project, but there are no doubts that he will remain at the helm in 2023-24.
