Mou made it clear he never had a good history with Rafa Benitez and is overjoyed now that the Spaniard has been replaced.

“Leonardo is great. I ask the Inter fans to welcome and support him the way you did me!” Mourinho told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Last season Leo proved he is a Coach of real potential. He is a great professional and not to be tagged as a Milanista. He dedicated many years to Milan and will now do the same for Inter with the same passion.

“I really do wish him every success. Please support him.”

The current Real Madrid manager also commented on his 2010, which saw him lead the Nerazzurri to the Treble.

“Without that result against Barcelona, my 2010 would've been perfect,” he said of Real's 5-0 defeat.

“Having said that, Inter remain the top club in the world and they proved it by winning the Club World Cup this month.”
