Jose Mourinho believes Italy should take a pragmatic approach against Uruguay in today’s do or die World Cup clash.

The Azzurri will progress to the Last 16 at the expense of their opponents if they avoid defeat in Natal.

However, the former Inter boss thinks the Azzurri will have to be at their best if they are to stop Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani from having a decisive impact on the match.

“The most important thing for Italy isn’t so much who they will pick in attack,” Mourinho told Yahoo. “It’s how they will keep their eye on two players who are capable of winning a match, Cavani and Luis Suarez.

“That Uruguayan strike pair have everything. They can play with their heads, speed, defend and press high up.

“Italy must manage these players and then control the situation. They must play in the knowledge that they can count on two different results and also they will know Uruguay are under double pressure. They have to win.

“Italy must be pragmatic and understand that Suarez and Cavani are two special players who can decide the game.”
