Spurs never lowered their €20m asking price, so Inter eventually matched it by including add-ons and performance-related bonuses.
Multiple Italian sources claim the deal is done and a medical due for Monday, seemingly confirmed by the fact Eriksen was not even on the bench today against Southampton, despite travelling with the squad.
“I don’t want to say anything,” commented Mourinho in his press conference.
“I just want to say that this situation shouldn’t happen on January 25. And it is not Tottenham’s fault that on January 25 that we are in this situation.
“The only thing I can say is Eriksen, since I arrived, is behaving in a very, very professional way, with me and the team. Tottenham is the last one to blame for this situation, but to be on January 25 in a situation like this is not nice.”
Eriksen’s contract with Spurs will expire in June, so Inter had hoped to bring down the price for a player who’ll be available for free in under six months’ time.
It’s reported Eriksen would’ve already flown out to Milan, but Inter agreed to wait until Tottenham found a replacement.
