The Japanese international had found himself on the bench at Catania recently, but hopes to kick-start his Serie A career at the newly-promoted club.

“After the play-offs my agent told me there was interest from Novara and I was immediately intrigued, so we started talks,” revealed Morimoto.

“Over the season I was able to see some Novara games. They push forward and run constantly. They're the kind of great attacking side I like!

“I already played alongside Simone Pesce and Riccardo Meggiorini at Catania, while I can't wait to meet my other new teammates.

“It's true I am accustomed to the hot weather in Sicily, but I'm certain I won't have problems getting acclimatised to the north.

“I'm told they can play great football on the artificial pitch at the Stadio Piola and I can't wait to try it out.”

Novara are the only club in Serie A and B to have a synthetic playing field.
