Benitez is thought to have irritated Moratti when he made a 'back me or sack me' plea after winning the Club World Cup on Saturday.

The former Liverpool manager asked Moratti to sign three new players in the January transfer window otherwise he feels it might be best to agree that they go their separate ways.

When asked about the speculation this morning, Moratti said: "Be calm. I am not talking today. I don't want to create an argument with anyone."

Il Corriere dello Sport understands Moratti is holding a series of roundtable talks to discuss the situation, seeking the counsel of his son Angelomario.

However, he is currently in Madrid on business, so a final decision on Benitez's future might not be imminent.
