The mother of Roma striker Adriano has ruled out a January move for her son. "He's staying in Rome."

The Brazilian's future has been cast into doubt after his struggles to break into the first team plans of Claudio Ranieri this term.

Corinthians have been heavily linked with the summer signing in recent weeks, but his mum is convinced that he will see out the season in the Italian capital.

"I only quickly spoke about football with him, but I got the precise impression that he will remain at Roma," said Rosilda.

Corinthians have been heavily linked with the summer signing in recent weeks, but his mum is convinced that he will see out the season in the Italian capital.

"I only quickly spoke about football with him, but I got the precise impression that he will remain at Roma," said Rosilda.

"I'll have to have a longer chat with him to understand his intentions, but I know that he had a meeting with Roma President Rosella Sensi which left him very motivated.

"He really wants to play for Roma."

Adriano is now back in Brazil for Christmas and he will return to Italy on December 29, a fact that his agent is convinced of too.

"There is nothing to decide," stated Gilmar Rinaldi. "I said that there was no truth in the Corinthians rumours.

"Adriano will continue to play in Italy, he has a contract with Roma and he wants to honour it. There is no chance that he will return to play in Brazil in January."
