“Milan have sold some important players, while we are gradually introducing youngsters,” Moratti stated outside of his offices this afternoon.
“Neither Milan nor ourselves have a super squad anymore, even if we still hope that results arrive. Unfortunately, we can no longer allow ourselves to sign a super champion at a cost of €20m.”
The Nerazzurri were being backed by the majority of football tips to collect a comfortable win against Siena at the weekend, but they were stunned 2-0 at San Siro.
“We should have won, but it is hard to face teams like Siena who just play to defend. Now we need to win in Verona against Chievo on Wednesday.
“It’s not very pleasing to live through defeats, let’s hope that the victories that will provide faith in the team arrive soon.”
Despite the loss, Moratti is hopeful that the results will arrive under Andrea Stramaccioni – a Coach who is considering a three-man defence like the one used by Gian Piero Gasperini last term.
“I’m optimistic,” Moratti added. “We have some good material to work with, a capable Coach and a lot of player options.
“A three-man rearguard? I will leave that decision to those who know more about it than me. The Coach is responsible for that.”
