Inter chief Massimo Moratti is excited by his club’s capture of Mateo Kovacic from Dinamo Zagreb this week.

The Nerazzurri have spent an initial €11m on the 18-year-old, but the player’s potential has caught the eye of the President.

“I think Kovacic is seen as a particularly good signing, at least I think it is because he's a special player,” the oil baron told Sky Sport Italia.

“He’s very talented and very young, so he fits in with our plans perfectly. He's a pretty good all-round player.

“He's a special talent and he should be interesting to watch because I'm sure he'll give us something new and that's always nice.

“Football is beautiful when you see something you've never seen before.”

Kovacic touched down in Italy on Thursday where, amongst the medicals and the paperwork, he met Moratti.

“It was just a 10-minute chat,” the Beneamata owner continued. “A normal conversation. He said he's thrilled to be here and I told him I'm thrilled he's playing for us.

“I asked if he feels ready to play and he said he is. The sort of things you say to each other when you share the same aims.”
