Saras, the oil company run by former Inter President Massimo Moratti, are donating €1m to hospitals in the Lombardy region fighting the coronavirus pandemic.

“At this moment of collective emergency, the hospitals are the structures under the most strain and their role is fundamental in battling this virus,” said Moratti.

“We feel the need to give concrete support to the Lombardy regional assembly, one of the areas hardest hit, who are facing the situation with the spirit of responsibility, courage and dedication.”

The company is also ensuring extra fuel is available to run the hospitals at full capacity.

Over 4,000 people have died in Italy after contracting the coronavirus, the vast majority of them in the Lombardy region around Milan, Brescia and Bergamo.
