Inter President Massimo Moratti and Wesley Sneijder both spoke after a meeting today, confirming “he is closer to Galatasaray now.”

There had been reports this morning that the Dutchman was prepared to cut his €6m wages after all, but that Moratti replied it was now ‘too late.’

The pair met today in a restaurant in Milan and the discussion lasted an hour, after which both of them spoke to Sky Sport Italia.

“We needed this meeting and it was pleasant,” assured Moratti. “There is still a small chance that Sneijder could stay.

“Is he closer to Galatasaray now? I think so, yes.”

The Dutch midfielder also talked to the Sky Sport Italia cameras.

“I have loved and do love this team. The Inter fans are the most important thing for me,” said Sneijder.

“I cannot talk about the negotiations right now, but I agree with the President’s words.”
