Monza are still incredibly keen on making a move for Andrea Petagna this summer but they’ll reportedly have to fend off competition from Lazio.

The 27-year-old Italian forward seems set to depart from the Partenopei this transfer window after failing to fully convince Luciano Spalletti last season. He only made four Serie A starts and most often made cameo appearances off the bench, leaving him keen for a new adventure this summer.

As reported by TMW, Monza have long been interested in Petagna and have been in talks for the player for a while now, but they cannot complete a deal until they make some space in their squad.

Their slow work has allowed Lazio to return to the fold; the Biancocelesti reportedly made contact earlier today to explore a possible deal for the 27-year-old. The Roman club are still looking for a new forward to rotate with Ciro Immobile and things could progress further should Monza continue delaying.
