Newly-promoted Monza continue to be active on the transfer market, as Marlon arrives for his medical, while a €10m deal is reportedly done for Roma’s Gonzalo Villar.

This will be the first ever Serie A campaign for Monza, who earned promotion via the play-offs over the summer, and they have been probably the most active Italian club on the market.

Marlon arrived this evening and will have his medical tomorrow morning, completing the loan switch from Shakhtar Donetsk to Monza.

It is a return to Serie A for the 26-year-old former Sassuolo defender.

According to Sky Sport Italia, a deal has also been done today for Roma midfielder Gonzalo Villar.

It is a loan with obligation to buy – if Monza avoid relegation to Serie B – for a total cost of €10m.

The 24-year-old was purchased from Elche in January 2020 for €5m and spent the last six months on loan at Getafe CF.
