West Ham United have reportedly made an offer worth €40m plus another €7m in add-ons for Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca, far more than PSG are prepared to pay.

According to Sky Sport Italia, West Ham entered the fray by contacting Sassuolo today with a proposal.

More details are coming in, with Sportitalia transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà citing the figures of €40m plus another €7m in performance-related bonuses.

That comes after talks with Paris Saint-Germain stalled, as the Ligue 1 giants informed Sassuolo they were not prepared to pay more than €30-35m.

So while Scamacca may well have agreed personal terms with PSG and prefer the Champions League contenders, West Ham are the only club prepared to reach the Sassuolo asking price of €50m.

Scamacca is 23 years old and has seven senior caps for Italy, really given the chance to shine at Sassuolo after spells with PSV Eindhoven, Cremonese, PEC Zwolle, Ascoli and Genoa.

As part of the original deal, Sassuolo owe PSV Eindhoven a 10 per cent cut of the sell-on fee.

  1. He’s not worth 50m. The club is ruining this guy by asking for so much. No big team will pay that much and he needs to be playing week in/week out in the CL. West Ham can’t provide that.

Then again, his contract was up earlier and he renewed.

  2. You’d think the Hammers learned their lesson with Haller..well, they’ve got money and they are investing, a good question is how many flops they afford almost every transfer market?
