Riccardo Montolivo admits “when you lose 3-0 more or less everything was missing,” but Italy can learn from their mistakes against Russia.

“Cesare Prandelli was as disappointed as us at conceding three goals, as it is always painful to lose 3-0 even if the result was rather harsh considering the performance,” said the Fiorentina” data-scaytid=”5″>Fiorentina midfielder who will be at Milan next season.

“When you lose 3-0 more or less everything was missing. We have to improve physically, tactically and in every area. We should be worried to the right degree, but also confident in what we achieved over the last two years.

“The first pressure on the opposition has to come from the forwards, then midfield and defenders. We did it successfully in fits and starts, but need to be more consistent.”

The heavy defeat in Zurich is the worst way to prepare for Euro 2012, where they’ll face Spain on June 10.

“Without doubt it’s better to have lost today than in the Euros, as we can watch the tapes back and discuss the errors we made so that we won’t repeat them,” continued Montolivo.

“The last three games certainly did not go well and we were lacking something in our attacking moves, but we have to be positive and that must be our strength.”

The preparation for the tournament was chaotic, as on Monday the Coverciano training ground was raided by police who searched Domenico Criscito’s room.

“It’s inevitable these events will shake up the training camp, but I think the team reacted well, we continued working the right way and must carry on like this. It’s not easy, as we are talking about everything except football, but we have to close together and create a group to lock out those issues.

“It is certainly a problem that we don’t have much time working with the Nazionale, but it is always going to be an issue. I think this friendly can only help.”
