It is reported that Riccardo Montolivo is in talks to terminate his contract with Milan a year early.

The 33-year-old’s deal with the Rossoneri runs until the summer of 2019, but it appears he may depart the club sooner.

The former Fiorentina man made only 26 appearances in all competitions this season, with just 12 starts in Serie A.

With the Diavolo expected to strengthen further during this summer’s transfer window, it appears Montolivo will slip still further down Coach Rino Gattuso’s pecking order.

And Calciomercato.com reports that the Italy international now wants to move elsewhere in a bid for a fresh start and regular first-team football.

The Italian sports website claims Montolivo hopes he can persude Milan, who he joined in the summer of 2012, to allow him to leave the club for nothing.
