Andrea Della Valle warned fans his family could abandon Fiorentina if they aren't wanted, while Riccardo Montolivo's words “were a stab in the back.”

The businessman owns the club along with brother Diego, but failure to qualify for Europe for two consecutive campaigns prompted protests from the supporters.

“If a part of the city does not want the Della Valle family to carry on with this club, then they should tell us that clearly. I won't stay where I'm not wanted,” slammed Della Valle in the Corriere dello Sport.

“Our objectives have not changed. We want to battle for a finish behind the top four. A place in the Champions League won't be easy, but we want to qualify for the Europa League and the Coppa Italia.

“I am considering whether to write down a pact with the city so there are no more misunderstandings over our targets. If that's not accepted, then we'd immediately ask around if there are people who can do better for Fiorentina.”

One of those disappointed with the lack of ambition at the Viola is captain Montolivo, who said this was why he turned down a contract renewal.

“His words were a stab in the back,” blasted Della Valle. “I did not expect it from him. Riccardo should talk to the fans before me and make it clear whether he wants to stay or not.

“If the big players want to leave, then we won't stop them, as we'll reinvest in equally important figures. Mind you, that does not mean we're dismantling the squad.”
