Milan midfielder Riccardo Montolivo admits his recovery from cruciate ligament damage is “going slowly” but insists he is “very satisfied” with his treatment.

Montolivo is not expected back until near the end of the season after sustaining an ACL injury back in October, but the Milan captain is refusing to be downbeat about his layoff.

“In regards to my injury, it’s still in its early stages. Not even two months have passed,” the 31-year-old told Milan TV.

“It’s going okay. I’m very satisfied, but it takes time. My recovery’s going slowly.

“Chapecoense and Milan’s initiative? It was a tragedy that struck everyone, but Milan’s gesture of solidarity was beautiful.

“It wasn’t enough, but it was a way to make our closeness felt.

“Crotone? We suffered, it was more difficult than expected. We knew they’d come to play the type of game they did.

“The team did well and were always in the game, with our heads up until the last minute.

“Then Lapa’s touch gave us the three points. It wasn’t the best match, but with the character, we achieved the win.

“Lapadula? I saw him for as long as I’d trained and I could see his desire and determination.

“I’m glad that he’s proving decisive at the moment. This team are very competitive.”
