Former Milan boss Vincenzo Montella can see ‘signs of progress’ at his new club Sevilla.

The 43-year-old, sacked by the Rossoneri back in November, has presided over two wins from three competitive matches in charge of the Spanish side since replacing Eduardo Berizzo.

“I have seen improvements,” Montella claimed as his side prepare for tomorrow’s La Liga meeting with Alaves.

“We haven’t had a lot of continuity because we have only had 15 days together, but we are working and improving.

“We haven’t had a lot of continuity because we have only had 15 days together, but we are working and improving.

“I can see signs of progress, even though it is small.”

Despite two Copa del Rey victories over Cadiz, Montella tasted defeat in his only League match at the helm so far – a 5-3 derby loss to Real Betis.

And the ex-Fiorentina boss is refusing to set his new team any targets for the rest of the season.

“Sevilla’s biggest rivals are Sevilla. We need to look at ourselves and go forward.

“The important thing is to be motivated and look to the future with optimism.”
