Vincenzo Montella urged Milan to “talk less and work more” after their third consecutive Serie A defeat, at home to Sampdoria.

Luis Muriel converted the decisive penalty after Gabriel Paletta tripped Fabio Quagliarella.

“This is football and we are left with regrets for all the good work we did creating opportunities,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“In terms of effort and the principles of the game, I cannot complain, but obviously we need to improve our finishing and the choice of final ball.

“The result is a heavy one, but we must continue to believe in ourselves and our principles of football. Sampdoria are a good side, but they had created practically nothing up until the goal. A mistake can happen.

“It’s a crisis of results, certainly, but we must try to remain calm.”

Gerard Deulofeu had his first start, but Carlos Bacca was visibly irritated when substituted for Gianluca Lapadula.

“I didn’t notice anything, but if players who are substituted are unhappy, it’s probably with themselves, not with the Coach. You’d have to ask Carlos who he was annoyed with.

“We have to improve in attack, but you can’t say we don’t create chances. It’s one of those moments, we should all talk less and work more, including me.

“I think we’re just going through a phase and better times will come.”
