“We’ve got a difficult run of games coming up. Torino are the best-equipped with quality and a smart Coach, so they can get closer to the big clubs.

“They always go for the win and have a clear identity, they are a team who play the ball. They never settle for less and we absolutely need the victory.

“We’ve had good performances against the big sides, apart from two games, and are trying to get closer. We’re doing our duty in fixtures against the teams in the middle and bottom of the table. I am concentrated on the positive and not the negative.

“There are a few players who are not at 100 per cent, but I don’t want alibis. We’ve got the chance to work with our heads clear and concentrate only on Serie A during the week’s training.”

Thursday’s 5-1 demolition of Austria Vienna secured their qualification for the Europa League Round of 32 as group winners, even if it began with an extraordinary Leonardo Bonucci howler.

His attempt at a sliding goal-line clearance let the ball slip through his legs and they went 1-0 down.

“It was a fine performance in general. He just made one mistake on that goal and slipped, but for the rest it was fine. The wind changed, because if we make a mistake and still win 5-1, that’s the sign of progress.”

Suso and Alessio Romagnoli missed that Europa League clash, but will the Spaniard or brace hero Andre Silva be used against Torino?

“A Coach must know how to choose based on the opponents and the type of game. I know that my choices won’t always be shared by everyone, but Andre Silva has played half the games from the start. Andre, like Patrick Cutrone, are important for the present, but will be fundamental for the future. Nikola Kalinic is more experienced in certain games, but they could play together in some occasions.

“We could potentially play Suso along with two strikers, but not behind them. We’d have to keep the Spaniard wide and ensure there are another eight defending well.

“We’re playing in a different way to last season and it’s true we are missing goals from midfield.”
