The young Coach has drawn plaudits this season for taking the Rossazzurri to the verge of European qualification and has subsequently been linked to a number of high-profile positions in Serie A.

However, speaking to the Press ahead of Week 34’s fixtures, Montella assured fans that he is unlikely to be leaving Sicily just yet.

“The President has been very understanding and has responded to talks of my future,” he began on Friday.

“Today we speak too much of the future and not enough about right now. We have six games to win. I have a contract and I intend to respect it – I’m really happy at Catania.”

The former Roma striker then looked ahead to weekend opponents Atalanta, who could draw level with the Elefanti this weekend if they beat them at the Massimino.

“We are ready to face a tough opponent ahead of us in the table in real terms, whose work has proven to be of great value. Their six-point penalty seems to have strengthened them.

“They have quality players. They’ll be without some this weekend but so will we and in the end it remains 11 against 11.”
