Ignazio Abate praises new Milan Coach Vincenzo Montella’s possession-based approach.

The Rossoneri have once again appointed a new tactician for the coming season, having had Filippo Inzaghi, Sinisa Mihajlovic and Cristian Brocchi over the past two campaigns.

“It’s still early to make a judgement because I haven’t known him for long,” Abate cautioned when asked about Montella by Premium Sport.

“But he’s definitely a well-prepared Coach who bases his football on possession of the ball. Not since Leonardo was here have we done so much training with the ball.

“We’ll get to know each other better and work on tactics, we’re all available to the Coach. We need to have a better season than the last one.

“It’s been hard, because the past few seasons haven’t been good enough for this club. We must grow in self-esteem and quickly put these three bad seasons behind us.

“We know there are stronger teams than us, but we can’t be out of Europe again.”
