Monchi has affirmed that Roma are no longer obliged to sell any of their stars. “Things have changed a lot.”

Roma sold Antonio Rudiger, Leandro Paredes and Mohamed Salah last summer due to Financial Fair Play, but Monchi made it clear there would not be another fire sale, while expressing his belief in another Champions League comeback against Liverpool.

“Every grandfather, every father, every child, every grandchild: we’re playing for everything on Wednesday,” he told Il Romanista.

“Every grandfather, every father, every child, every grandchild: we’re playing for everything on Wednesday,” he told Il Romanista.

“I believe. We believe. We’ll give everything. They have the lead in the tie, we have the Olimpico.

“One year on? We’re in a different situation compared to a year ago. Roma’s numbers are public.

“Roma sold Salah, Paredes and Rudiger and were €42m in the red. It wasn’t an easy decision, but we had to find solutions.

“Today, however, things are different: selling depends on us. Things have changed a lot.

“I don’t know if they have 360, but they’ve nonetheless changed a lot.”
