Roma sporting director Monchi says “nothing has changed” with their pursuit of Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez.

The Giallorossi have made two offers for the attacking midfielder, and the director explained at Hector Moreno’s presentation that he isn’t their only option.

“In terms of Mahrez, the situation hasn’t changed since the last Press conference,” Monchi explained at Lorenzo Pellegrini’s presentation.

“I want to make two points. Firstly, a squad like Roma’s with players like Pellegrini, [Radja] Nainggolan, [Kevin] Strootman, [Edin] Dzeko, [Aleksandr] Kolarov etc doesn’t depend on the right winger who comes in.

“I think the guarantee of the performance of this team is the collective that we have.

“If the first point is conformist then the second is ambitious: Mahrez or not, an important player will arrive who will give his quality to a magnificent squad.

"Emre Mor? Today it's Emre, yesterday it was Rodrigo Caio. I don't like going name-by-name, because part of my job is to look for opportunities.

"All the names out there are interesting players, who could be targets for Roma but it's important to maintain discretion. I don't want to talk publicly, it creates confusion.

"In terms of exits, we're working to find solutions and in some cases we're closer to finding them, in other cases further away. We still have a month.

"The main thing I'd say is that it's important to remember we're talking about people, it's not about compelling someone to go somewhere they don't want to so it's all a shared choice."
