There is a protest this evening against President Jim Pallotta, as the ultras in the Curva Sud will stay silent for the first 10 minutes after dozens of banners were hung up around the city urging him to sell the club.

Monchi spoke to reporters before kick-off and was asked outright if Roma were playing to keep Di Francesco in his job.

“We are playing for three points. We are focused on winning, as we need the three points, to get back up the table,” the director of sport told Sky Sport Italia.

Monchi was asked if Patrik Schick being on the bench tonight, even with Edin Dzeko injured, means he’s on the market in January?

“No, it just means the Coach had to choose 11 players. It changes nothing. He decide this 11 was best to win this particular game. It was no signal of any kind.”

Monchi is flying out to America tomorrow to meet with President Pallotta.

“I go to Boston every six weeks to talk about many things, because that is where the club owners are.

“We always analyse the performances and results. It’s natural the President asks about the situation, as we are not there to talk about the Boston Celtics or anything else. We’re there to talk about football.

“When a team doesn’t get the results, it’s never just one person who is responsible. We all shoulder the blame and the responsibility, but my faith in them also remains the same, without any doubts.”
