Massimiliano Mirabelli will reportedly not travel to the US for Milan’s preseason tour, casting doubt over his tenure as sporting director.

The claim was made by Sky Sport Italia, on the same day that Milan elected a new board of directors, while jettisoning Li Yonghong and Marco Fassone.

Mirabelli arrived with the pair last year, having previously worked as a scout for the likes of Sunderland and Inter.

A recruitment drive of over €200m soon followed, but the general lack of impact made by the signings and the departure of both Li and Fassone look to have left the 49-year-old’s position untenable.
