“We had some horrific days, losing a 31-year-old guy and one who grew up in the Milan jersey. We imagine him by our side, celebrating with us and we play for him. There are no words for this tragic moment,” the director of sport told Sky Sport Italia.
Moving on to the present and future, Mirabelli confirmed they are in negotiations for Napoli goalkeeper Reina, who will be a free agent in June.
“We are always looking to the future. You all know that if I am here, then Gennaro Gattuso will remain at Milan. He may well remain even without me!
“We did inform Napoli that we want to speak to Pepe Reina’s agent, because we want to see if there’s a possibility of bringing the player to Milan.
“Although Arsenal are a quality squad with a lot of international cachet, we have talented young players, many of them making their first steps on to the European stage. We wouldn’t trade any of them for the Arsenal players.”
