Reports are spreading fast that Manchester United will go in for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic if they fail to secure Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona.

The Premier League side have a basic agreement in place with Barcelona, but De Jong is steadfastly refusing to make the move to Old Trafford.

There are even suggestions today that the Blaugrana told him he will only remain at Camp Nou if he takes a 50 per cent pay cut for this season, which some are calling ‘bullying’ the Dutchman into accepting a transfer.

Meanwhile, after LaLazioSiamoNoi reported last week that agent Mateja Kezman had visited the Lazio camp for talks, reports are growing that Milinkovic-Savic is the number one alternative on Manchester United’s list.

That interest goes back a very long way, with President Claudio Lotito bragging of having rejected €100m offers for the Serbian.

However, Manchester United may well find the same problem, which is that they are not in the Champions League.

Neither are Lazio, but they have been showing significant progress under coach Maurizio Sarri after his first season saw them finish fifth in Serie A.

  1. To be honest I torn here! On one hand we could use with some cash to reinforce the team on so many different areas but we know very well that not even a 10th of that money will go back to Lazio. Mr presidente would pocket most of it to cover his loss on the Salernitana sale, Lazio will end with a no-name replacement for SMS due to “lack of time” and couple of others talents noone heard of (read Jony, Varvo, Lukaku) or wash half of it on fake transfers like Muriqi. So i rather have SMS for two more years and enjoy seeing him in Lazio shirt and risk losing him on bosman than see his transfer money go down the drain. But what do I know I am just a fan!

  2. been a top player for lazio, sell if only the owner will to put every euro back into lazio to buy players
