Sandro Tonali, Matteo Gabbia, Ismael Bennacer and Rafael Leao were Milan‘s best players in their 4-0 win over Dinamo Zagreb last night, according to Italian sports papers.

The Italian midfielder was named MVP by UEFA last night. Tonali delivered the assist for Gabbia’s opener and earned a penalty kick converted by Olivier Giroud.

He was rated 7.5/10 by La Gazzetta Dello Sport, the same rating as his teammates Gabbia, Bennacer and Leao.

Gabbia and Leao got their names on the scoresheet, the Italian defender opened the account, while Leao scored the second goal of the night after a stunning solo run (VIDEO).

La Gazzetta Dello Sport’s correspondent in Zagreb joked that the Portuguese striker should ‘apply for the 100-meter dash’ after his brilliant goal. Leao also contributed to Robert Ljubičić’s own goal in the second half.

The ex-Lille starlet was rated 7.5 by the three primary Italian sports papers. Overall, he, Tonali, Bennacer and Gabbia received the highest grades in Zagreb.

Bennacer didn’t contribute to any goal but was a key player for the Rossoneri. ‘He knocked on the door of the best midfielders in Europe,’ wrote Gazzetta. ‘A great game, he was everywhere.’

Milan will host RB Salzburg at San Siro next week and a draw will be enough to qualify for the Round of 16.

3 thought on “Milan’s best four players in crucial Champions League win vs. Dinamo Zagreb”
  1. Is Tonali elite? If not seems to be on his way, a young Italian midfielder having his say in the CL!

  2. Nice to see an Italian getting a chance in a top serie A team and playing in the CL. Come on Milan, what other young Italians can we add to the team?

I was hoping for Gnonto or Carnevali for the right wing
