Milan have conceded nine goals in Serie A so far this season, seven of them from set-piece: ‘We need to be more focused,’ Stefano Pioli warned.

The Rossoneri are the Serie A table leaders with 26 points in the opening ten league games. They are enjoying a five-point lead over second-placed Inter and have the second-best defence of the tournament after Juventus.

The Old Lady have conceded nine goals in Serie A so far but played one game less than the Rossoneri as their 3-0 win over Napoli back in October came by default.

“The last goal we conceded from open play was against Napoli. We need to be more focused on set plays,” Pioli told Sky Sport Italia after Milan’s 2-1 win over Sampdoria on Sunday.

The Blucerchiati’s Albin Ekdal also scored from a corner kick action at the Marassi.

“It’s true we’re not the tallest squad, but I think we had more chances from dead-ball situations tonight than Sampdoria did,” Pioli concluded.
