Milan have confirmed Keisuke Honda will join them from CSKA Moscow – they are just unsure when that will happen.

The Japanese international will be available on a free transfer in January, but the Diavolo are trying to get CSKA to sell him before the September 2 transfer deadline.

“Honda will arrive in January, but it would be good if they want to give him to us sooner,” Vice-President Adriano Galliani noted. “If that doesn’t happen then we will wait.”

The two clubs have been in discussions for a number of weeks and Honda is hopeful an agreement is very close.

“I have already admitted having negotiations with Milan and it's true that they are entering the final stages,” Honda is quoted as saying by Nikkan Sports.

“As far as I am aware, Milan have almost satisfied CSKA’s requests. A clear decision will be made when club officials meet again in the next few days.”
