Milan are reportedly weighing up a move for Atalanta midfielder Roberto Gagliardini in January.

According to Calciomercato.com, Gagliardini’s profile fits in with Silvio Berlusconi’s ideology of a Milan team built on a foundation of talented, young Italians.

The Rossoneri are also understood to be on good terms with Atalanta, given their previous dealings regarding Gabriel Paletta and Giacomo Bonaventura.

The Rossoneri are also understood to be on good terms with Atalanta, given their previous dealings regarding Gabriel Paletta and Giacomo Bonaventura.

However, it remains to be seen whether the Orobici will let one of their most important players leave so soon, with their other prized assets also “under siege”.

Furthermore, fellow midfielder Franck Kessie is due to represent Ivory Coast at the Africa Cup of Nations, while Milan’s budget in January has yet to be determined.  

Gagliardini is enjoying a breakthrough campaign, the 22-year-old’s performances for Atalanta having earned him Italy recognition.
