Milan star Zlatan Ibrahimovic will soon meet Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara to discuss a one-year contract extension with the Rossoneri.

The Swede underwent knee surgery less than two weeks ago and according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, he wants to continue playing, although he won’t return to action before January 2023. His contract with Milan runs out at the end of the month and the Rossoneri directors will sit down with him to negotiate a one-year contract extension.

The meeting between Ibra and the cub directors will take place over the next few days.

According to the report, Milan will offer him a lower salary given his foreseeable long spell on the sidelines. The compensation may be linked to the number of appearances the Swede will collect during the next season. Ibrahimovic is the highest earner at Milanello with a €7m-a-year salary.

The Serie A giants have already set their sights on other strikers who will replace Ibrahimovic long-term. Divock Origi is on the verge of joining the Rossoneri as a free agent from Liverpool, but the club also have other targets on their agenda and will pick their new forward depending on the transfer budget for the summer.
