Milan could reportedly send Gonzalo Higuain back to Juventus next summer on economic grounds.

According to Corriere dello Sport, ‘the odds are higher’ on Higuain leaving Milan at the end of the season than vice versa.

The Rossoneri paid Juve €18m to sign Pipita on loan over the summer and agreed a €36m option to buy.

However, because his contract at San Siro would tie him until 2021, the newspaper claims the Diavolo would take a €37m hit to their budget.

That comes in stark contrast to Lucas Paqueta, whose deal has been structured in a way that he would cost only €7m over five years.

Given his importance to Coach Gennaro Gattuso, Il Corriere expects new CEO Ivan Gazidis to try negotiating a lower fee with the Old Lady first.

He has scored seven goals in 13 appearances for Milan so far this term but was sent off against his parent club after he had a penalty saved.

In the meantime, the Rossoneri are set to learn whether Higuain will have the second game of his ban lifted in time for their visit of Parma on December 2.
