Milan chief Silvio Berlusconi has confirmed that the club will look to replace Nigel De Jong during the January transfer window.

The Dutchman could miss the rest of the season after he snapped his Achilles tendon in the 4-2 win at Torino on Sunday.

“We’re disappointed, it is a real shame for De Jong,” the former Italian Prime Minister told Sky Sport Italia after the game.

“We’re evaluating the opportunity of going back on to the market if that is what is necessary.”

The 28-year-old has scored one goal in 12 League appearances for the Diavolo following his summer arrival.

The midfielder joined the Diavolo from Manchester City for a fee believed to be in the region of €5m.
