Milan could be lining up a sensational move for Italian national team boss Cesare Prandelli, reports on the peninsula claim.

Ilsussidiario.net believe that the Azzurri Coach would be the ideal candidate to replace Massimiliano Allegri, who looks set to leave San Siro either at the end of this season, or in 2014.

President Silvio Berlusconi has already publicly admitted that he has tried to approach Pep Guardiola to take charge of the Rossoneri.

But with a number of clubs chasing the former Barcelona man, the Milanese giants could look to bring in the 55-year-old tactician, who has a contract with Italy until the 2014 World Cup.

Prandelli guided the national team to the final of Euro 2012, and has made a positive start to qualification for the tournament in Brazil in 18 months' time, winning three of their first four matches.
