This morning’s tests on Alessio Romagnoli ruled out muscular lesions for the Milan captain, who remains in doubt for Sunday’s Serie A clash against Napoli.

The Italy international was forced off the pitch in the first half of last night’s Milan derby.

The Rossoneri have released an official statement regarding the player’s fitness after his medical examinations in the morning.

Tests ‘ruled out muscular lesions in his left adductor,’ the statement read, as quoted by La Gazzetta dello Sport. Romagnoli’s fitness will be ‘assessed day by day.’ Milan have another key clash over the weekend as they’ll face Luciano Spalletti’s Napoli at the Stadio Maradona.

Romagnoli remains in doubt for the game, which could be a massive problem for the Rossoneri. With Simon Kjaer on the treatment table until the end of the season due to a severe knee injury, Matteo Gabbia or Pierre Kalulu will be the only options to partner with Fikayo Tomori in Naples on Sunday if Romagnoli doesn’t recover in time.
