Milan are reportedly probing for Inter's Mateo Kovacic, but the €30m price-tag may push them back towards Sampdoria's Roberto Soriano.

Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic is apparently fixed on building a strong central midfield, and his latest target belongs to the other half of Milan.

In spite of Mihajlovic's stated interest, the Diavolo are reluctant to move for Kovacic, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

What may be holding them back is the price set at €30m. The operation would also be difficult as Kovacic has been used consistently by Roberto Mancini and is an asset to Inter.

Milan may then turn back to one of their original targets, Sampdoria's Soriano. His original price was valued at €10m, though reports that Juventus have recently offered €15m could inflate the price.
