As Adriano Galliani declares Milan as the team in European football closest to Barcelona, Marcello Lippi praises Massimiliano Allegri’s psychology.

The Rossoneri’s Vice-President Galliani made the comparison between the current Scudetto holders and the Spanish side, who have won 13 of the 16 competitions played during Pep Guardiola’s tenure, in light of the two teams’ meetings in this year’s Champions League group stages.

Milan netted twice in both matches, drawing at the Camp Nou 2-2 before falling to a 3-2 defeat at San Siro and finishing the group as runners-up behind the Catalans.

“We are not far from Barcelona,” commented Galliani this week. “It seems to me that the team to have caused Guardiola’s side the most difficulty this season so far has not been Real Madrid but really my Milan.”

Meanwhile, former World Cup winner Lippi has praised Allegri for his impact in creating the right conditions for the team’s players to shine under this season.

“Allegri has been good, he has been able to find just the right feeling. I know many at Milan who were with me in the national team and speak to me often and they all say positive things about Allegri.

“I do not think managing big personalities at Milan is a problem for him, he has created a great feeling between himself and the dressing room.

“It is true that on the field the players are winning games with their class, but to enter the field with a taken-for-granted correct psychological mindset is down to the Coach.”
